The one night stand: what we think about fucking

Women want to cuddle and make you coffee in the morning, but the man just wants you to sneak out the door while he’s sleeping. It is myth.

It’s simply typical gender typing; women are over-emotional while a man developing feelings for a girl after a one-night fling is just “so gay”, right?

Wrong.

This gender differentiation is something that is now outdated and you’d be a total fool to follow.

It isn’t weird for men to enjoy the cuddles after you’ve ended up going home together, and nor is it for them to want to see you again. They aren’t all these steel-headed monsters that sleep with girls and never text them again. Yet there are just as many women that will want to sneak out in the morning without knowing if they’ll send a text or not, and why this somewhat shocks society is hugely questionable. It’s fine for men – why not women?

It’s expected now – boys will be boys. But it’s something we need to get over. Here’s the thing: we are less mentally separated by our sex than you think. Both men and women suffer and enjoy the same emotions. Both men and women have one night stands, and sometimes both men and women will get attached. Whatever happens happens. It’s unavoidable, and it’s not the fault of our genitals making us oh so different to those of the opposite sex.

And because of this, we mock. We are in a society where we’ve become too hung up on these predetermined emotional roles: women can and do behave in the exact way men are perceived to, and they get slut-shamed for it. Men are mocked by their friends if they get too hung-up on a girl, in the words of Mike Skinner – “don’t mug yourself”. But your body is always your prerogative, despite gender. What you do, or do not, with it is in no way subject to the judgements of others. And your gender makes absolutely no difference to how you should make these choices.

There are nights when sex is just sex, and there are nights when you realize you might like their personality too. But whatever it is, it’s nobody else’s business – and guess what? This happens to BOTH men and women.

What it really comes down to however, is this. Men have sex. Women have sex. The end.
